THE HOTEL

We have a well stocked trout pond where guests may fish for theit own dinner {our staff will do this for you if you want to eat wonderful trout without catching them yourself} We are open all year and are a family hotel with recreational opportunities for young and old alike, whether you are staying for a week-end or longer you will findd plenty to occupy you, with walks in wonderful natural surroundings on well marked trails, mountain bikeing, visiting places of interest or ski-ing {there is a ski tow at the hotel and ski hire is available} Residential all inclusive art courses taught by a renowned British artist.

TOURIST INFORMATION

Zivcakova is a place of pilgrimage (only 2 km from the hotel)
 

The most visited place in the area is the hill of Zivcak. According to the testimony of Matus Lasut, St Maria revealed herself to him on the 1st of June 1958. This became a place of pilgrimage firstly for people from this area and now by people from all over the world. The water from the mountain spring is said to have healing qualitys.

The Pretroleum Spring of Korna 

This is situated near Korna in the protected area of Kysuce. It was declared a Natural Site of Special Interest on 1984. It is a typical feature of flysh zone. Here one finds a spring of light petroleum with a high oil content and the occasional efflux of methane gas. Drilling took place here from 1898 and continued untill he start of the 2nd World War, when it became obvious the well's where not productive.

Open Air Museum of a Kysuce Village

Set in picturesque scenery and natural surroundings of Vychlovka. These historical buildings where preserved and moved here. Among them are-   Mill house and Lumbermill from Klubina {end of the 19th century} Houses and Homesteads from Riecnica and Harvelka {middle of 19th century} The Church from Zborov {beginning of the 19th century} And the pub which came from Korna itself.

Woodland Revsal Point Railway.

This narrow guage railway is a National Technical Monument. With it's extraordinary dead centre system, only two examples exist the other in South Africa. It ascends to the height of 217m.

  Klokocov Rocks

These lie between the villages of Hlavice and Hruby Buk in the nature reserve of Klokocvske Skalie. This massive rocky edge is dotted with totally spherical rocks. Similar rocks occur in the Kornica area.

Fallow Deer Reserve.

Situated in the mansion nature park at Oscadnica.

Sport and Tourism
 
The National Park of the Kysuce region was established in 1984 to protect the unique flora and fauna of this area.
The region is renowned for it's graded attractive tracks for walkers of all abilities. Summer visitors are able to find in season forest berrys and a wonderful selection of mushrooms.

Swimming
3 km from the Penzion Maria there are a number of ponds (Turzovka-area-Predmier)
A swimming bath is situated in the town of Cadca (20 km from the hotel)

Tennis
 Courts are available in Turzovka.

Ski-ing
There is a ski tow belonging to the hotel.
More demanding ski-ing is available at ski centres around Turzovka, Makov, Cierne and Skalite.
The most famous ski centre is Snow Paradise at Oscadnica {Velka Raca} with many graded run's, chair lifts and tows.

Folk Tradition

The Kysuce region is well known for it's rich folklore traditions. Each year there takes place many folk festivals such as the Goral Festival in Skalite and the Beskydy Festival in Turzovka, these festivals are showcases for local traditional singers and dancers and many folk groups from far and wide.
